House Subcommittee Approves Legislation To Reduce Suicides Among Veterans Who Return From Iraq, Afghanistan

The House Veterans' Affairs Health Subcommittee on Tuesday by voice vote approved a bill designed to limit the number of suicides among veterans who return from Iraq and Afghanistan, CongressDaily reports. Under the legislation, veterans will have access to a counseling hotline, 24-hour mental health care services and an outreach or suicide prevention counselor at all Department of Veterans Affairs medical facilities. The bill moves to the full committee for consideration (Leonatti, CongressDaily, 3/14).
