CQ's Carey Addresses Stem Cell Bills, Abortion Measure

November 01, 2017

Mary Agnes Carey, associate editor of CQ HealthBeat, discusses President Bush's veto last week of legislation (HR 810)that would have expanded federal funding for embryonic stem cell research and a Senate bill (S 403) that would make it illegal to take minors across state lines to obtain abortions in this week's "Health on the Hill from kaisernetwork and CQ." According to Carey, Bush vetoed the stem cell bill because it would support "the taking of innocent human life in the hope of finding medical benefits for others." Carey also discusses the abortion-related measure, which is expected to pass (Carey, "Health on the Hill from kaisernetwork and CQ," 7/24).
